Nestled at the corner of Market and Santa Clara Streets, at the very heart of downtown San Jose, stands a building that is more than just brick and mortar—it’s a symbol of the city’s rich history and a beacon for its future. This is the home of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, one of the West Coast’s oldest and most influential business advocacy organizations. It’s a place where ideas flourish, leaders convene, and the pulse of regional progress can be felt.
The Legacy of Bob Kieve
This historic building will soon bear the name of Bob Kieve, a revered figure in San Jose’s business community. As the 1993 Chamber Chairman of the Board, Bob Kieve was a visionary who believed in the power of commerce to drive civic and economic development. He was instrumental in securing the historic building for the Chamber to purchase and call its home. His legacy is one of leadership, innovation, and a deep commitment to the community. Through the Bob Kieve Chamber Building Preservation Foundation, we honor his memory and ensure that his vision continues to inspire future generations.
Our Vision: A Hub for Business and Community
The Chamber's headquarters is more than a historical landmark; it has the capacity to serve as a vital hub where business and community gather to shape the future of San Jose. The building holds an 80-person capacity meeting room, office and drop-in spaces for members and rooms for small meetings. While the capacity exists, our potential to activate the spaces are limited for today’s standards. Significant upgrades are needed in A/V, technology, lighting, interior design and security. Your support will create a place where ideas are exchanged, partnerships are forged, and progress is made.
Our Fundraising Goal
We have set a Phase 1 fundraising goal of $500,000. This amount will allow us to undertake critical upgrades and preserve the building’s historical integrity. We are also excited to announce a $50,000 matching grant opportunity available through December 31, 2024. Every dollar you contribute will be doubled, making your impact even greater for our most pressing needs.
